News and Current Events
Fall 2009-Spring 2010 was another successful season in Sevier County’s Region 440 Soccer. This season all the U10 players and up were based at Walters State Community College, Sevierville Campus. By doing this it allowed all the teams to be balanced with players from all over the county. This not on allowed for better games and more challenging games but also for new friendships to be made not only by the players but also the parents. At the beginning of the season there was so concerns and dislikes expressed about having to play with kids from different schools, but after a few practices and games this was no longer a concern. The players who attended different schools looked forward to practice days and game days, not only because they got to play soccer, but because they got to see their new friends. This part alone has made it clear the decision to place all the players together was a good decision. By doing this most games were within one or two points. This prevented games from being really lop sided and we all know there is no fun it this.
We are so lucky to have such a great program here is Sevier County. This season for the first time is several years we were able to offer Coach and Referee training right here in the county. We had a large turnout for both of these training sessions. Most went on to become a coach or a ref, but some just attended the training so they could learn more about soccer and AYSO. Should these folks ever decide to coach or ref they are now certified and won’t be required to take the course again. For the most part we were also lucky enough this season to be able to have 3 or more coaches per team on the upper divisions. This allowed for more individual training and made it more fun for the kids. It worked so well this season we have decided to make this a goal, to have at least 3 or more coaches per team. Although this will mean more parents will be volunteering it seems they don’t mind because they are out there having fun too. All these parents need to do is sign a volunteer form (which provides them with accident insurance while helping with soccer) and step out on the field to help the head coach with practices. It’s great to look out on the field and see little groups of three and four all over with parents working on different things. When looking on the fields you will see one group maybe working on throw-ins, while another on dribbling with the left foot only with inside and outside of the foot, some maybe working on goalkeeping while others on shooting. Then in a few minutes everyone will rotate. This makes for a really good practice. But more important the kids are having fun while learning about soccer so they may become better soccer players. By becoming better soccer players hopefully they will continue their soccer careers in high school and college and hopefully beyond.
Fall Registration is Thursdays in July from 6:30-7:30pm at WSCC on the soccer fields. Spring sign ups are ususally the last two weeks of January and the first two weeks in February. Please keep an eye on this web site as the dates will be published here. EVERYONE WILL HAVE TO RESIGN UP EACH SEASON. Even if you play in the fall then you will have to sign up agian for the spring. The fee for spring if they played fall will only be $15.00 (excluding any late fees). If they did not play fall the fee will be $60.00 (excluding any late fees). Fall games will begin on September 11th with uniform sales being September 9th at the Soccer Shed. The last games are scheduled to be October 30th. Coaches should contact players in the fall by September 1st.
Hope to see each of you on the soccer fields for another great season.
Thanks to everyone for all they do. Without volunteers we would not have a program.
Changes that were implemented in Fall Season of 2009 within the Region
Number One Change
We will now have two completely separate sessions. You will now have to sign up separately for the Fall and Spring sessions. The feesfor fall will be $60.00. Then in the spring if your name is listed on the fall players list you will sign up again but this time you will only pay $15. Making the total paid for the year $75.00. New teams will be formed in fall and spring. This will allow players to experience different coaches and team mates. By forming new teams this allows the administration to be able to get coaches and place players on teams quicker where in the past we never know if a coach was returning or how many of their players were returning. Whole teams have folded due to no coach or not enough returning players. Then players have had to be shuffled around at the last minute. By making these new changes it has allowed us to get players paired up with coaches in a timelier manner, therefore allowing your child to be able to get more practice time in before the first games start.
Number 2 change
If we have less than 6 teams in a the U10 bracket (under 10 year olds as of August 1) then one or 2 teams will be entered into a schedule which will require all the teams in that bracket to take a turn in the rotation to travel. They will travel to locations such as Morristown, Dandridge and Newport. This will help in alleviating them in having to play the same teams over and over. All U10 and Up players will be required to play and practice at WSCC. There will be no community teams in these age groups. All players will be balanced on teams with players from all over the county. This will help to have balanced teams which is an AYSO philosophy. Plus it gives players a chance to meet and play with others outside of their immediate group of friends. U10 and up players may be required to travel to a few games.
Our Board of Directors has carefully considered these changes and has decided it is for the betterment of AYSO and Sevier County. Please help support our Board Members in their decisions.
Volunteers
This past season we had a large number of people who filled out volunteer forms. This is great. However, unless they follow thru and volunteer to help it doesn't do us much good. We have a critical shortage of referee's. We must have referee's in order to play games. After all this is why your child is signed up to play soccer. So they can play. One ref can't cover the whole field. All games should have three ref's. You can help your child by helping the center ref. Please parents we need people to come forward and help. It it's nothing more that standing on the side line with a flag at your childs game and letting the center ref know which team the ball went out on, this is a help. This will make a difference. Beside what a better place to watch the game from then on the side line in front of everyone else. Think about it. We need your help.
In the little kids, the U5 and U6's we would like to see at least one parent from each team on the field during the game helping the regular coach to coach and ref.
These kids need you. Please step up for your child!

All calls will be returned if not answered!
Uniforms Sale date is September 9th 2010 from 5:30-7:00pm at the AYSO Soccer Shed at Walters State Community College Sevierville Campus.
How do I get a uniform? (check calendar for sale dates)
Once teams have been formed and coaches are given their rosters they will notify the players. At that time coaches should inform parents how to purchase a uniform if they still need one. Uniforms are usually sold at the AYSO soccer shed at WSCC.on scheduled dates prior to each season. The location of the AYSO Soccer Storage Building is on the campus of the Sevierville Walters State Community College. Buliding is located to the far right of the soccer fields.
PLEASE PARENTS IT IS YOUR PLACE TO MAKE IT TO ONE OF THE UNIFORM SALE DATES. If you miss the unifom sales It is the parents responsablity to make arrangements to purchase uniforms. Coaches will not be required or responsible for this.
If you missed the uniform date please contact us thru the contact page and we will try to work something out.
UNIFORMS
Uniforms are $40. This includes 2 jerseys, 1 pair shorts and one pair socks. Additional socks are $7.00 per pair. It does not matter if more than one child has the same jersey number. This is not a problem. Please do not request a certain number on the jersey. All players on the same team DO NOT have to have the same color socks!
The region uses a standard uniform, i.e. teams are not permitted to buy their own uniforms. While that's a disappointment to some, it's intended to ease the coach's workload and keep the prices low for those on a tight budget. The required uniform package consists of two jerseys (one red, one blue), one pair of black shorts and one pair of socks. See the picture to the left. The package sells for $40. Uniforms must be purchased as a package--items will not be sold separately.
The region anticipates using this same uniform package for the foreseeable future. We sell the uniform package separate from the registration fee because players (or their younger siblings) are often able to use the same uniform set for several seasons. Thus, you save money by not having to buy a new uniform every season.
Keeper Jerseys
We have a few bright keeper jerseys with padding in the elbows. Keeper jerseys sell for $40.
